Will Do Anything!

The summer season is fast approaching and that means that Show Season is also on its way at the barn. Unfortunately, there has been a new rule established by the owner saying that you have to own a horse in order to show. Which in a way makes sense. The rider gets to form a close bond with the animal and that will eventually lead to more victories in the ring. But, that is also a bad thing for all the riders who can not afford to buy their own horse, like myself.

The owner has been very good to my family ever since I started riding for him so I went to him a few days ago and asked what I had to do in order to be able to show. He said that he would try to work something out, but he wasn't sure how it would work. He doesn't want the other riders seeing me be able to show if I don't have a horse and they can't. I told him that I would do anything! Including giving up all my paychecks from here on out to buy a horse. And I was serious, whether he took it serious or not I don't know. I guess I will just have to wait and see what comes.

Speaking of horses, I've been looking at a lot of colleges that offer an Equine Studies Major. So far I've found about six that I like, four that I really like, and one that is at the top of my list. I know I've been saying that I don't want to go to an in state school, but my family unit doesn't have all that much money to spend so an in state school would really drop the cost. The school that I've been seriously considering is Virginia Intermont College. It's in Bristol, VA which is practically on the boarder between VA and Tenn. It's about 8 hours away from home and is 370 miles away. So it's still close to home, so mother won't worry, but far enough away to feel on my own. Hopefully I will be able to visit these schools that I like and get to see the campus life.
